Recently, one of ESPN’s trusted NFL Draft voices proposed two trade ideas, including one that takes Rasul Douglas off of the Eagles’ thoughts and roster.

With no live sports to discuss, much of the sports world’s attention now turns to the upcoming NFL draft. That’s especially true if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. We’ve reached an area where theory and conjecture rule the day however as no one’s certain of what Philly’s plan is in the draft or beyond, but we’re able to make educated guesses and spend the day talking about them. Then, there are questions like this one. What about guys like Rasul Douglas? What’s going on with him?

For the past three seasons, whenever Douglas’ name has been brought up in a press conference involving one Jim Schwartz, the Eagles defensive coordinator, the answers have been complimentary. Though he, at times, has referred to him as “Russell”, Schwartz aways seemed satisfied with where Douglas was in his development.

The reactions from just about everyone else vary. Sure, he’s been available for 52 games during his career, including the playoffs and every contest from the past two seasons. He’s racked up 128 tackles, 26 pass breakups, and five interceptions, but he seemed to fall out of favor with the Eagles coaches towards the end of 2019.

Now, there are whispers about whether or not the man entering his fourth season even has a place on this roster. Let’s talk about his standing, some rather recent history, and a few trade ideas, shall we? The 2020 NFL Draft is approaching.
