Philadelphia Eagles: Ranking 2020 NFL Draft’s top 20 safeties
If you’ve been paying attention, there are quite a few guys from the Utah Utes program that figure to hear their name called in the draft. Whether Terrell Burgess is one of those guys or not is up for debate, but if he isn’t taken during the selection meeting, he figures to be one of the first wave of prospects that get scooped up shortly thereafter.
In 2019, he tallied 81 tackles and an interception. He also ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at the most recent NFL Scouting Combine.
Brandon Jones is a nice option for anyone who likes for their safeties to be six feet and over. He isn’t much of a big hitter, and because of his inexperience and youth, he can get lost in coverage sometimes, He still managed to rack up 86 stops, a sack, and two picks in 2019.
He’ll get a serious look from anyone looking to add a strong safety late.
Kamren Curl racked up just under 100 total tackles in his first two seasons at the collegiate level before adding another 76 as a junior. He probably should have stayed in school one more season to refine his skills, but after snagging two picks, forcing three fumbles, and breaking up 15 passes in 34 career games, he figures to pop up on a few radars and draft boards.
