We’re counting down the top ten defensive ends outside of Chase Young in the 2020 NFL Draft. Philadelphia Eagles may want to pay attention to this one.

It isn’t the most desperate of circumstances, but it isn’t the perfect scenario as we approach the 2020 NFL Draft either. Just think about the Philadelphia Eagles situation at defensive end in 2018.

Brandon Graham underwent ankle surgery in May but wound up with 39 total tackles, four sacks, and a forced fumble. Michael Bennett was in the fold and wreaking havoc, as was Chris Long. Much was expected of Derek Barnett as he entered Year 2, and despite the fact that his season was shortened because of injuries, everyone was happy with what Philly had at defensive end.

Long and Bennett were dismissed in 2019, partially because Philly was placing their hope in Barnett, but he still hasn’t had his breakout. It’s now 2020, and we’re entering what might be both Barnett and Graham’s final season in Philly. That brings us to the other guys on the roster. Their names are Genard Avery, Daeshon Hall, Shareef Miller, Joe Ostman, and Josh Sweat.

There are a lot of guys there, but right now, it doesn’t seem like any of them are the second coming of Trent Cole. The Eagles may need to spend a pick on a pass rusher.

Let’s count down the top ten in this year’s draft class. Just to make things interesting, we’ll remove Chase Young‘s name and that of K’Lavon Chaisson. The latter may be best suited to play the outside linebacker in the 3-4 scheme, but if he is a 4-3 defensive end, he’d be the second guy taken after Young.
