The Philadelphia Eagles brought on help for Carson Wentz on the offensive line in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with Jack Driscoll.

If Jack Driscoll‘s time at Auburn is any indication of what to expect in the NFL, Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles are going to be quite happy with their new offensive lineman.

After addressing safety earlier in the fourth round by selecting Clemson‘s K’Von Wallace, the Eagles decided to use pick No. 145 on Driscoll to bring on some depth for the offensive line, which seems necessary more than ever heading into the 2020 season.

Between all of the uncertainty surrounding Andre Dillard over whether the former first-round pick is legit or going to be a complete bust on top of Jason Peters no longer being around, Philadelphia’s offensive line had some questions entering the draft.

Not to mention, with Jason Kelce getting up there in age, and appearing to be on the verge of retirement since 2020 could be his final NFL season, the Eagles knew the importance of taking advantage of the draft to build for the future with the offensive line.

Even though Driscoll will need to bulk up now that he’s in the NFL to put himself in better position to live up to the high expectations, this pick for Philadelphia seems more so for the long run instead of seeing an immediate impact right away as a rookie.

Obviously, the Eagles would love nothing more than to see Driscoll fight for significant playing time right away, but from a realistic standpoint, this seems like a selection in which Philadelphia will focus on developing one of their newest rookies into a reliable lineman.

Wentz certainly deserves credit for staying healthy for most of 2019 minus the cheap shot in the playoffs from Jadeveon Clowney, but Philadelphia realizes the importance of making sure their beloved quarterback receives the best protection possible.

Time will tell when it comes to determining if the Eagles made the right call with Driscoll or if they would have been better off focusing on the offensive line with one of their earlier picks.

But hopefully, Philadelphia did their homework on Driscoll, and this pick ends up being a great addition to provide Wentz with great protection for years to come.
