Elijah Riley, Army, defensive back

You can’t argue with anyone who attends West Point, serves our country and plays a little football when he has some spare time. Elijah Riley is a five-foot-eleven, 209-pound standout from the Army Black Knights who tallied 201 total stops, seven interceptions, and 6.5 sacks from the defensive back position.

There are some linebackers that didn’t even do that over the course of the past four seasons.

In 2019, he was a team captain, so we know he’s a leader, something that should serve him well at the next level. It’s good to see that he’s getting a shot to earn a job somewhere.

Prince Smith, New Hampshire, defensive back

A few days after we remember the passing of one of music’s biggest icons of all time, Prince, Philly adds a defensive back of the same name. Okay, that has nothing to do with football, but it was nice to throw the author of some of the greatest music ever created in there.

As far as Mr. Smith is concerned, he’s a fice-foot-ten native of the “City of Brotherly Love” who now gets the opportunity that quite a few kids who grow up in Philly share. As far as what he’s capable of on the field, Smith was a three-year starter who racked up 64 tackles, three picks, and two forced fumbles. For his sake, let’s hope that translates to the next level.
