Philadelphia Eagles: 5 bold predictions for running backs on 2020 roster
By Dan Parzych
It’s never too early for some bold predictions focusing on the 2020 roster for the Philadelphia Eagles at running back.
With the 2020 NFL Draft officially in the books, it is only a matter of time before the end of training camp rolls around, and the Philadelphia Eagles are trimming their roster down to 53 players.
And while most of the attention at the moment on offense for the Eagles is all the new talent at wide receiver, there are plenty of reasons to be excited over the team’s running back situation as well.
Around this time last year, Philadelphia felt confident that Miles Sanders would turn out to be a great compliment playing alongside Jordan Howard, who the Eagles previously acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears earlier in the offseason.
Due to Howard dealing with a shoulder injury during the final two months of the regular season, Sanders would actually finish the 2019 season as the top running back on Philadelphia’s offense, setting the bar high for his sophomore campaign in 2020.
To top it off, the Eagles also benefitted from Boston Scott stepping up down the stretch to help take some of the pressure off Sanders, and set Philadelphia up with a potential new dynamic duo to work with moving forward.
Of course, the two aren’t the only running backs on the roster the Eagles should be excited about, as history shows that Doug Pederson could see a few surprises at the position once the 2020 season officially gets underway come September.
Since there will be plenty to discuss from now until then, it’s time to have a little fun by making some bold predictions for the 2020 roster focusing on the running back position for the Eagles.
