All eyes will be on the Philadelphia Eagles position battles heading into the 2020 season, and the cornerbacks figure to take center stage.

If you would have wagered with someone heading into the 2020 NFL Draft that the Philadelphia Eagles would have gone through the entire three-day process without taking a single cornerback, you would have won a lot of bets. Most of us figured a linebacker or a wide receiver was the best option for their first-round selection, and they went with the latter at pick 21, Jalen Reagor of the TCU Horned Frogs.

In Round 2, it made sense to go with a corner, or a linebacker, or even another wide receiver. After all, they had passed on Justin Jefferson and Kenneth Murray on the draft’s opening night. Denzel Mims seemed like too attractive an option to overlook, and a former LSU Tigers cover guy, Kristian Fulton was still available. Surely, he’d be an appropriate partner in crime for the newly acquired Darius Slay.

There isn’t an Eagles fan in the Delaware Valley or anywhere else in the country that doesn’t know what happened next. The “Birds” took a quarterback. Eight more prospects joined the nest before the selection meeting wound down. None were corners. Here we sit, and when we talk about the cornerback position, it seems like Philly’s found their difference-maker in Slay. Past that, however, nothing seems certain.

Let’s answer a few questions. Here’s a realistic roster outlook and three bold predictions for the “Birds” at the position. Let’s begin with a role call.
