3. Hurts has better potential for long run

First off, Dalton has certainly displayed some impressive moments for the Bengals over the years as their starting quarterback, and it will always be difficult not to wonder how different things could have been over the last couple of seasons if he had a better overall team to work with.

Despite still being in search of his first playoff win, it should be noted that Dalton did lead Cincinnati to five postseason appearances in a row at the beginning of his career with the Bengals from 2011-15.

But also, the argument can still be made that better play on Dalton’s end at the time could have resulted in Cincinnati winning at least one or two of these games, which also seemed to play somewhat of a factor in the team’s decision to move on while paving the way for Joe Burrow.

There was a time in which Dalton’s potential was extremely high with the Bengals, and this could still very well be the case if a fresh start with the Cowboys helps the veteran turn things around since once again, Cincinnati didn’t exactly put him in great position to succeed.

However, if football fans were to choose long-term potential between Hurts and Dalton at this very moment, the honors still seem like they would go towards the rookie quarterback.
