2. Injuries could play a factor.

The Carolina Panthers added Elijah Holyfield to their roster as an undrafted free agent after 2019’s NFL Draft. He was waived in September of that year but re-signed to the practice squad, and that’s where Philly found him. He signed with the Eagles this past New Year’s Eve.

He’s never carried the ball in a game that counts, so we know he’s fresh. Unfortunately, we don’t know if he can take a hit though. He split a lot of time splitting carries with quite a few great Georgia Bulldogs running backs, including D’Andre Swift in 2018, and maybe you’ve heard. Linebackers in the NFL are six-foot-four, 265 pounds, and they run the 40-yard dash in less than five seconds.

Sanders finished the 2019-2020 season upright, but as he was relied on more often down the stretch when the “Birds” had no other choice, there were a couple of knicks and bruises that made him miss some on-field time. You already know about the injury concerns with Corey Clement. Neither of these guys looks like they need to be punished 25 times a game.

If any of these small backs the Eagles employ wind up injured, a very real possibility even though no one wants to see that happen, it could open the door for Killins. Then again, at five-foot-eight and 164 pounds, it wouldn’t appear on the surface that Killins could endure a pounding from guys like Bobby Wagner or Aaron Donald either, so this may be a point that someone can argue both ways.
