Philadelphia Eagles: 4 players fighting to keep their jobs beyond 2020
The Philadelphia Eagles made some key moves in the offseason along with the NFL Draft to put a few key players in the hot seat entering the 2020 season.
One of the most exciting parts of the NFL offseason is seeing your team make some much-needed improvements to their roster, especially if you happen to be a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Will the recent picks by the Eagles end up being duds? Will fans be disappointed once again by some of the questionable decisions made by Howie Roseman?
Some fans may be upset with some of the moves made by Philadelphia, but from an overall perspective, the Eagles certainly did not disappoint during this offseason in regards to making necessary additions, including some key selections from the draft.
Prior to the draft, Philadelphia bolstered their secondary in a big way by acquiring three-time Pro Bowler Darius Slay in a trade along with convincing Jalen Mills to return, and make the switch from cornerback to safety.
The Eagles also made crucial additions to their offense at wide receiver to the delight of fans everywhere. Rather than just adding one new wideout, the Eagles went ahead and added four (three during the draft and one undrafted free agent).
And if all these moves didn’t already seem exciting enough, Philadelphia even brought in Heisman runner-up Jalen Hurts in the second round, shocking fans of all 32 teams across the league since the team is already set with Carson Wentz as their starter.
Not all of these moves were popular among the fan base, but at least all Eagles fans are on the same page when it comes to the events from the last few months adding even more excitement to what should be another entertaining 2020 season.
With that being said, while some of these new additions are exciting, they also bring into question the future for a few beloved veterans. Players like Miles Sanders and Fletcher Cox can almost be guaranteed to play all of next season, but the same can’t be said for everyone.
Certain players are inked in for the 2020 season and beyond, but there are others with something still to prove. Whether it’s because of a new player, a decrease in performance, or another rising talent on the team, not everyone will be a member of the squad around this time next year.
Whether they’re a fan favorite or have been on the team for many years, no one is safe from having their job taken by a younger, better player on the current Eagles roster.
So without wasting anymore time, let’s take a look at a few players from the Eagles who have something to prove this year.
