2. How serious are these rumors of Jason Peters’ return?

At the beginning of May, NJ.com reporter Mike Rosenstein further speculated that the Eagles planned for Dillard to assume the starting job, which may be why Peters wasn’t re-signed before the draft, but COVID-19 has complicated the plans for the offseason. For example, there’s doubt that there will be a training camp, which would have been pivotal for Dillard’s development going into his sophomore year.

Here’s a quote from Rosenstein.

"It’s fair to wonder how much offseason development Dillard will receive going from year one to two. That outlook could be why the Eagles are open to a reunion with Peters."

Considering the unique circumstances of the current offseason and Peters’ stellar 2019 play, a possible return by “The Bodyguard” shouldn’t be out of the question. It has to be noted that it will still raise questions about Dillard’s role with the team if it happens.

Despite the learning curve, first-round tackles are generally expected to become full-time starters very early in their careers, and Dillard is struggling to do that.
