The Eagles have reportedly shown interest in free-agent running back Carlos Hyde, but is he the best option available at the position?

The month of May approaches its midpoint, and as most of us have finally put the most recent NFL Draft behind us, one that had both disappointing moments and areas where there were adrenaline rushes. The Philadelphia Eagles continue to adjust and tweak their roster so that they field the best team possible in 2020. The new name rolling off of quite a few tongues belongs to free-agent running back Carlos Hyde.

NFL Insider Adam Caplan revealed on his highly-popular Inside the Birds podcast, which he co-hosts with Geoff Mosher, that Philly is interested in the six-foot, 229-pound standout that spent his most recent season with the Houston Texans.

In 2019, Hyde had his most productive season as a rusher from a yardage standpoint (1,070 yards). He also produced 55 first downs, a personal best, and six rushing touchdowns.

This is debatable, but of the remaining free-agent running backs that are available, Hyde would probably be graded ahead of the likes of Bilal Powell and Theo Riddick, but then, there are three others who might be placed in the same tier.

Is Hyde the best option for this Eagles team? Let’s rank those three prospects who could be seen as being in the same class and compare them to what looks like someone Philly has some interest in.
