Remembering positives from Nelson Agholor’s Eagles career
By Hunter Doyle
While Nelson Agholor’s tenure with the Philadelphia Eagle will be remembered for his mistakes, there are a few positives we all can remember.
When Nelson Agholor signed with the Oakland Raiders this offseason, it’s safe to say most Philadelphia Eagles‘ fans were rejoicing. It’s tough to forget all of the dropped passes from his five-year run with the team. Fans also remember him being the brunt of a few jokes after a heroic effort to save a few children from a burning building led to a reference that everyone at ground level was able to catch those children ‘unlike Agholor’.
The gravity of the situation didn’t sway the young man’s thoughts from the less-than-stellar efforts he was seeing from Philly’s receiver, but that’s Philly fans in a nutshell.
To say Nelson had his fair share of disappointing plays, games, and seasons is an understatement. 2019 almost seemed like a mix of what he showed from 2015 to 2016 with a few highlights sprinkled in.
Despite his fumble against the Detroit Lions, he also found his way into the endzone with a gorgeous spin move. After he dropped a potential game-winning touchdown versus the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2, he made a more impressive 43-yard catch on 4th and 14 to keep the Eagles’ hopes alive shortly after that.
It’s Agholor’s mistakes, however, that he’s remembered for, and the mishaps in 2019, cost the Eagles greatly.
Agholor struggled in 2015 and again in 2016, but when it seemed that fans had given up, he finished 2016’s season strong with a big touchdown on Thursday Night Football in Week 16 versus the hated New York Giants. that would be a sign of things to come in 2017. Let’s take a trip down some of the more impressive stretches of memory lane.
