. Josh Sweat. 4. player. 54. .

You’re all familiar with Josh Sweat by now. Philly found him in the fourth round of 2018’s draft, 130th-overall, and ever since then, the hope, like it is with seemingly every defensive draft choice the Eagles have taken since 2017, the coming year will be the year that he has his breakout season.

Based on the law of averages alone, at some point, that statement must hold some credence.

Here’s the good news. With Sweat, we can all see that there are flashes from time to time. We all keep saying it. Now if there was some way “94” could extrapolate those flashes over four quarters and 16 games, we’d be in business.

Eagles fans and coaches are being patient with Sweat. Maybe because he’s a former fourth-round draft choice, but after seeing him rack up 138 total tackles and 14.5 sacks in 35 games at the collegiate level, it’s easy to understand why everyone’s frustrated with the fact that he’s only been able to manage 22 tackles and four sacks in 25 games as a professional.

Hopefully, we see him contribute more in an expanded role during the 2020 season. Grade: C-
