Philly may have finally solved the linebacker puzzle.
One of the pleasant surprises of 2018 was seeing Nathan Gerry blossom once he was given an opportunity, but he really solidified himself as a key contributor to Philly’s defense during the 2019-2020 season, adding 84 total tackles 2.5 sacks, two picks, five pass breakups, and a defensive touchdown to the Eagles cause in 16 regular-season games and during the Eagles Wild Card Game versus the Seattle Seahawks.
T.J. Edwards should serve this team well in a reserve role, and he might actually wind up as the “Mike” starter once the regular season begins, but Temple’s Shaun Bradley will do all that he can to compete for a roster spot.
If Bradley works his way onto the field, he and Gerry form a nice combo for years to come, but you can also say the same thing about Davion Taylor. It’s hard to understand why no one’s talking about moving him to safety yet. That’s probably his more natural position, but either way, with Gerry, Bradley, Taylor, and Edwards in the fold, it may be time to finally drive a wedge in the revolving door we’ve all seen at the linebacker position in the “City of Brotherly Love”.
