54. . . . Graham, Barnett (DE). 6. player

We regret to tell you that, after weighing the evidence, there’s no way that Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett can be worked into the top five of the Eagles’ best starting duos. Sure, with the level of importance that a pass rush represents on any defense, you’d hope that a 14th-overall selection would, at minimum, be mentioned among the game’s all-pros, but here we are.

Every season, we’re teased that we may be on the brink of a breakout season by Derek Barnett. Every year, at season’s end, we walk away with the same disappointment. At this point, everyone may need to reserve themselves to the idea that, as much as every Eagles fan would love for Barnett to be a perennial all-pro by now, there’s nothing that demonstrates that he ever will be.

Philly may have missed the mark here by taking him.

Brandon Graham’s story is a little different. He’s never made a Pro Bowl either, but it isn’t that he isn’t deserving. Even if you disagree, you can make an argument that he could have been given the distinction after each of the past five seasons, but the closest he’s come has been a Second-team All-Pro nod in 2016. Will 2020 be his final season? He’s 32 years old and very expensive.

Stay tuned.
