3. Carlton Davis

As previously mentioned, the Eagles filled a big need this offseason at cornerback by bringing Slay on board to become the top player at the position on defense.

But as far as the No. 2 job is concerned, well this is an interesting situation for Philadelphia.

While the Eagles have a handful of candidates at the moment competing for the job such as Sidney Jones and Avonte Maddox, there is no guarantee that either of these players will live up to the high expectations.

Since both Jones and Maddox have each received numerous opportunities to prove themselves worthy of earning a starting role, Philadelphia could benefit from bringing on some extra insurance just in case.

Two years ago, the Buccaneers felt confident enough in using a second-round pick on Carlton Davis to help fill their own need at cornerback, and there’s no question the investment has paid off in a big way so far for Tampa Bay’s defense.

With the high expectations in Tampa Bay following the addition of Tom Brady this offseason, the chances of the Buccaneers making Davis available in a trade sounds slim, but also when has this ever stopped Howie Roseman before?

If the Eagles truly believed that Davis could make a major difference on defense as the No. 2 cornerback, Roseman and the front office will push to make it happen.
