1. Carlos Hyde’s signing means the Seahawks again beat the Philadelphia Eagles to the punch.
If this sounds like a familiar refrain, it’s because it is. Wasn’t it 2017 or 2018 when it seemed like the stories about guys wanting to sign with the “Birds” came every two days? Those days seem to be behind us. For the second time in two seasons, the Seahawks seemingly have taken the measure of the Eagles.
Last year, it was the ‘Hawks who walked away as the winners of the Jadeveon Clowney sweepstakes. This time, it’s Carlos Hyde who decides to head to the Pacific-Northwest. Heck, if anyone’s counting, you can make an argument for D.K. Metcalf being another example. Philly keeps playing second fiddle to Seattle, and it showed on the playing field twice during the 2019-2020 season.
All of a sudden, it feels like Philly’s always at the negotiating table, but they can’t land anybody. It definitely doesn’t help that these guys are joining the ranks of a team Philadelphia can’t beat and have to face in Week 12.
In a loaded NFC, with so many good teams all trying to play their way into football’s biggest game come February, everyone’s looking for an advantage. Whether you wanted Hyde or not, you have to admit. Seattle got better today. Philly didn’t.
