Have the Philadelphia Eagles solved the linebacker riddle?

By now, we all should have learned that Nathan Gerry is more than just some guy with a cool nickname. Admit it. You love that “White Snake” thing he does, but with Nigel Bradham gone, the questions about Philly’s second level revolve around whether or not T.J. Edwards, an undrafted guy from a season ago, is ready to step into that role and assume playcalling duties.

He’s good. We just have to learn just how good he is. The Eagles also added to a position of need by selecting two linebackers in the most recent selection meeting, Davion Taylor and Shaun Bradley for the uninitiated. Still, when you look at his skill set, you could ask yourself if Taylor is better suited to join K’Von Wallace in the backend of the defensive formation at safety.

Don’t think it can’t happen. Remember, some of you thought it was equally as ridiculous to move Gerry to linebacker from safety when Philadelphia drafted him in 2017.

“Mike” linebacker (the middle): T.J. Edwards, Shaun Bradley, Dante Olson

“Sam” linebacker (strong-side): Nathan Gerry, Jatavis Brown, Alex Singleton

“Will” linebacker (weak-side): Duke Riley, Davion Taylor

Here’s something of note. Gerry is in a contract season. Keep that in mind as we move through 2020’s campaign. It should be interesting to see if the Eagles see him as one of their long-term building blocks.
