Philadelphia Eagles got some great news on June’s fourth day.

Those who have had their fingers crossed for some Philadelphia Eagles football got some great news on the fourth day of June as tweets containing a memo from league offices began circulating right around lunchtime on the East Coast.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport were among the first to report that we have an official document from the NFL’s commissioner Roger Goodell stating that coaches of all 31 teams might be allowed to return to their training facilities as early as Friday. Since the release of this story, the franchise has announced via Twitter that the “NovaCare Complex and Lincoln Financial Field are set to re-open with limited employees on June 8th”.

Credit “The Rap Sheet” for edging out Schefter just slightly for this one. Here’s his tweet from Thursday morning.

That sound you just heard was the exhale of legions of Philadelphia Eagles fans.

This is great news and the first step towards Eagles football in 2020. It looks as though the Eagles head coach, Doug Pederson, is headed back to the NovaCare Complex sooner rather than later. That probably means that the team will soon follow, and as mentioned, that’s good news for anyone who’s been dealing with that sick feeling that has come from the constant reminders of the possibility of there being no football to watch in 2020.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday as a matter of fact, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that teams wouldn’t be allowed to travel to other cities for their training camps. Every camp this season will be held at each team’s facility. That announcement or the reason behind it shouldn’t come as any surprise.

There’s been no official word yet on actual dates for the start of camp or when players might start filtering into their respective facilities, but the hope is that’s soon. Baseball is America’s pastime, but football is America’s passion. Whether fans in the stands or not, the 101st season of NFL football can’t get here fast enough.
