54. . . . JJ Arcega-Whiteside. 4. player

Is this a bounce-back opportunity or a potential breakout campaign for this Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver?

It’s hard to call something a bounceback season when there isn’t really much to build off of, but when a player is taken in the second round, they’re often expected to contribute immediately.

Last year, the Eagles drafted two prospects in the selection meeting’s second stanza. One set two rookie franchise records for rushing yards and all-purpose yards. The other contributed to Philly’s cause with a grand total of ten receptions for 169 yards and a single touchdown. You won’t need help in identifying which two Eagles players we’re discussing, will you?

If you’re wondering why this team keeps chasing old veterans and why it has to land most of its stars via trade, this is the main reason why. These draft picks aren’t working out. Either they aren’t living up to their potential (Sidney Jones and Derek Barnett) or the Eagles aren’t getting anything out of them at all (Shareef Miller).

For JJ Arcega-Whiteside, a roster spot is probably certain. This team isn’t going to give up on their second-round selection just yet, but this guy has to make a huge leap in Year 2. This one is more deserving of the potential “breakout year” category than the “bounce-back year” category, but after getting what they got from their 57th-overall selection in the 2019 draft as a rookie, JJ has more than earned a spot on this list.
