4. player. 54. . . . Jalen Mills

Is this Mills’ last ride with the Philadelphia Eagles?

Though it’s hard to believe this now, once upon a time the two ugliest words in any NFL Draft were following Jalen Mills around, “character concerns”. Just like that, a guy who was receiving second-day grades fell to the seventh round and the Philadelphia Eagles at the 233rd overall selection.

With that being said, knowing the Eagles got 226 total tackles, four picks, and 42 pass breakups out of this guy (including the playoffs), Mills’ tenure with Philly has to be viewed largely as a success. Right now, the “Green Goblin” is in that area that no NFL star wants to be in. He’s important enough that the “Birds” have retained him at the end of his rookie deal, but there’s some uncertainty about his value as they’ve only elected to sign him to a one-year deal that ends in 2021.

Whether Mills’ career with the “Birds” extends past next year’s free-agency period is uncertain, but there’s no need to start discussing any new extension until we evaluate his resume at the end of the current season and whether or not the Eagles organization belives it will continue if his contributions have been positive.
