Even now, “Dawk” is humbled when he thinks about Philadelphia Eagles fans.

It’s hard to imagine that a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee who earned nine Pro Bowl nods over the course of his career (seven in a Philadelphia Eagles jersey) can maintain the level of humility that Brian Dawkins does. Think about it. There are a ton of people on Planet Earth who are louder and brasher that have accomplished a whole lot less.

Credit his faith. Blame that humility that comes with conquering the personal hurdles and obstacles that Dawkins has conquered, but believe it or not, “Dawk” is still humbled by the love and affection he still gets from “Birds” fans. What makes him special is the fact that his humility isn’t an act. It’s 100 percent genuine.

Philadelphia Eagles fans still have a lot of love for Brian Dawkins and vice versa.

Dawkins’ humility was again on display as 94 WIP-FM named him as the fourth man on their G.O.A.T. of Broad Street countdown. Believe it or not, the man with many nicknames is still taken aback by the fact that, despite not playing a game in an Eagles jersey since an NFC Championship Game that punctuated the 2008-2009 season, the fans still love him and always will.

Take a look at some of his response to WIP-FM’s decision to honor him.

"Wow!! Still hard to believe that in a tough, hard nose, hard hat, no-nonsense city like Philly, I’ve been blessed to connect like I have!! Love Y’all right back!!"

To many Eagles fans, Brian Dawkins is their favorite Eagle of all time. 13 years is a long time to do anything, and for 13 years, “Weapon X” gave blood, sweat, and tears to the “City of Brotherly Love”. The term “G.O.A.T.” definitely applies.

Trending. The Eagles fourth running back is an obvious choice. light

He’s a four-time First-team All-Pro, a member of the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team, a member of the Eagles Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame, and no one will ever wear the number 20 in an Eagles jersey again because of him. The respect that fans have for him and will always have for him is well-deserved.
