The Eagles have Darius Slay and Nickell Robey-Coleman, but that clearly won’t be enough.
During the most recent free-agency period, the Eagles’ biggest coup came by way of a trade and an extension that followed. Darius Slay is expected to do what Ronald Darby couldn’t, locking down the other team’s best wide receiver.
As it turned out, just about every team Philly faced thought when Darby was on the field that it would be beneficial to throw at anyone he was covering. Oftentimes, they did so with success. The hope now is that’s no longer a concern and the Eagles can solve the riddle of who should start on the other side of Slay.
The job seems to be Avonte Maddox’s job to lose. He showed promise in Year 1 but looked to be every bit of a fourth-round selection in Year 2. Was it a sophomore mini-slump or just a part of the growth process? We shouldn’t have to wait long to find out.
The Philadelphia Eagles have a potential defensive rookie of the year in K’Von Wallace.
One day, we may look back on a few Pro Bowl nods and a stellar career by one K’Von Wallace and acknowledge that it all was made possible by the former Clemson star falling all the way to the Eagles in Round 4.
Rodney McLeod has been solid whenever he’s been healthy and available. Jalen Mills might be headed for a season of hybrid duty, and that means Philly fans could get a few early looks at someone quite a few people are expecting a lot out of.
Last year Miles Sanders played situationally before being called upon more later in the season. Don’t look now, but there may be a similar story written on the other side of the ball in 2020 by an Eagles who is getting a lot of mention.
