Philadelphia Eagles: Torrey Smith has a message for Carson Wentz’s haters
Former Philadelphia Eagles wideout Torrey Smith has something to say.
Time flies when you’re having fun. Believe it or not, it’s been almost three full seasons since former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Torrey Smith wore the midnight green and etched himself into the hearts of “Birds” fans forever. A relatively quiet regular season in 2017 gave way to some criticism, but it was all erased during a nice postseason showing that was punctuated when he ran under a rainbow from Nick Foles’ arm on in an NFC Championship Game appearance on what will forever be remembered as the most famous flea-flicker in the team’s history.
Smith’s tenure, much like LeGarrette Blount’s and Patrick Robinson’s, was of the one-and-done variety (he’d be allowed to leave and sign with the Carolina Panthers on March 9th of 2018). His spot in Eagles lore, however, is secure, and even though retirement may have increased his caloric intake, when he talks, “Birds” fans still listen.
Listen up Philadelphia Eagles fans. Smith has a message for Wentz’s haters.
Amidst random Carson Wentz posts, some of which that bash him and others that praise him, we can all expect to see some QB1-inspired content on Wednesdays as the familiar “WentzDay” hashtags pop up around social media every “Hump Day”. Well, here’s one for the archives if you missed it.
Smith is apparently still riding the “Wentz Wagon” as he recently came to the defense of the oft-criticized “Birds” signal-caller towards the end of June. The words were few, but each stung like an MMA blow as the man who wore the number 82 during Philly’s Super Bowl reminded everyone of something they’ve seemed to have forgotten about. Take a look.
Now, that’s a drop-the-mic moment of there has ever been one. Truthfully, does anything else really need to be stated after that? At this point, it would seem like anything further would be a distraction. Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, if you’re a Wentz hater, just sit there for a second and let that one sink in.
