54. . . . Cody Kessler. 4. player

If you’ve learned nothing else by now, you know the Philadelphia Eagles love familiar faces.

It seemed like Cosy Kessler was on his way to becoming one of the Philadelphia Eagles’ three quarterbacks heading into the 2019 regular season. He was brought in to compete with Nate Sudfeld for the backup quarterback role. Things were going according to plan. Then, the wheels fell off of the “Wentz Wagon” so to speak.

During an August 15th preseason game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kessler got knocked out of the game, and the blow resulted in a concussion. Josh McCown was added to the nest just two days later.

The mastery McCown showed of the Eagles’ offense made the choice an easy one for Philly. Josh McCown was in. Cody Kessler was out as Philly decided to waive the latter during final roster cuts on August 30th. For his career, Kessler has thrown eight touchdown passes and boasts a quarterback rating of just under 84 on just 349 career attempts, but he’s also thrown five picks and 125 incompletions.

He’s never reached the level of continued success since being drafted in the third round of 2016’s draft, but if you’re an Eagles fan, you’re more than aware that this team likes to keep guys they already know around. If injuries become an issue, don’t be surprised if Kessler gets a call. Hey, he’s better than Brock Osweiler.
