The Philadelphia Eagles may have a potential star on their hands.

All we kept hearing heading into the most recent NFL Draft was ‘if there was ever a year that your team needed a wide receiver, the 2020 selection meeting was the perfect place to find one’. Well, the Philadelphia Eagles were definitely in the market, and in Round 1, they took Jalen Reagor, formerly of the TCU Horned Frogs.

They addressed other needs on Day 2 before landing three more in the draft’s final stanza. Marquise Goodwin came to the nest via trade. John Hightower and Quez Watkins were taken in Rounds 5 and 6 respectively.

A few months later, Goodwin opted out of the 2020 campaign. Alshon Jeffery sits on the PUP list. JJ Arcega-Whiteside is dealing with an ailment of his own, but he could be back any day. We’ve long known that Reagor’s spot on the 53-man roster is assured, as are the spots belonging to ‘JJAW’ and Jeffery (whenever he’s healthy), but in the meantime, those young guns are making the most of their opportunities. Enter Quez Watkins. Ladies and gentlemen, the ‘Birds’ may have a star on their hands.

The sixth-rounder doesn’t seem to be interested in a spot on the practice squad. Buckle up. Here are two reasons the guy wearing the number 80 can sneak onto the roster.
