Philadelphia Eagles camp notes: 4 Players miss practice with illnesses
Four Philadelphia Eagles missed Friday’s practice session with ‘illnesses’.
On a day where we expected to be talking about the first Philadelphia Eagles practice that featured an age-old art that NFL football seems to be down on, tackling (we’re teasing of course), four familiar faces missed Friday’s session of camp workouts with what’s being described as an ‘illnesses’.
The names are as follows: wide receivers Deontay Burnett and Jalen Reagor, cornerback Rasul Douglas, and defensive end Shareef Miller. Zach Ertz joined the injury report as he took the field without pads. He’s being described as having an upper-body injury and has been designated as ‘day-to-day’. Marcus Epps is dealing with a lower-body issue. Like Ertz, he’s also been given the designation of being ‘day-to-day’.
If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, there are no initial signs that any of this is a reason for worry.
At the time of this story being published, there’s been no indication by the ‘Birds’ or their medical staff that what’s going on with Ertz is any different from what we say with Philly’s handling of Miles Sanders a few days ago. The belief is he’s being held out as more of a precaution than anything.
It’s also important to note that the word ‘illness’ doesn’t necessarily translate to any of those guys having contracted Coronavirus. It’s certain that the ‘Birds’ will probably keep any medical issues in-house, but if what we all consider to be the worst has happened, there is a Reserve/COVID-19 roster designation. Philly doesn’t have anyone on that list.
Here are two other things of note. Jason Peters came up limping during drills and walked off under his own power to the sideline, but he was back on the field after a couple of plays. Then, there’s Sidney Jones who missed another day of practice as well. You know what they say. Availability is a skill, and for a man that has a ton riding on the 2020 season, this isn’t how he could have wanted things to start, especially with some strong camp showings by some young defensive backs like Elijah Riley and Grayland Arnold making names for themselves. The latter seems like the team’s eying him to play safety.
