3 Sub-radar Philadelphia Eagles to watch during camp’s second week
Apparently, no one’s told Deontay Burnett that he isn’t making this Philadelphia Eagles roster.
We’ve been over this so many times that you can probably do this in your sleep by now. With Alshon Jeffery on the Eagles’ PUP (physically unable to perform) list, Philly has 11 wide receivers in camp. Here’s a quick roll call.
DeSean Jackson, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Jalen Reagor, Greg Ward, John Hightower, and Quez Watkins are the guys we think are definitely in the drivers’ seats for roster spots. Marcus Green and Manasseh Bailey are in camp, and both are talented. Still, it feels like they’re longshots to make the roster. As is Travis Fulgham, who just goy activated on August 23rd.
There’s an issue though. Robert Davis, who’s also on the roster, was given a ‘week-to-week’ designation on Sunday, right about the same time that the aforementioned Hightower joined him on the injury report with what’s being described as an ‘illness’ (which is probably why Fulgham is here).
That’s given Deontay Burnett a lot of opportunities, and he’s shown that, if he isn’t making this roster, he isn’t going to go quietly. Sunday was another great day for him as he made several nice catches, including three in a row at one juncture and a touchdown reception. It will be interesting to see what he does this week.
