He’s been hurt, but Quez Watkins was a nice find by these Philadelphia Eagles.

14,133 students. That was the total number of young men and women attending Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver Quez Watkins alma mater in the Fall of 2019. Look at it this way. You could have given each one of the students a free ticket to a ‘Birds’ home game in 2020, and you still would have had over 55,000 available seats left for anyone else looking to attend that same game.

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles football team will never be the Ohio State Buckeyes. They play
Division I FBS football in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on Sports Exe Momentum Turf at
M. M. Roberts Stadium, but they know their football.

That’s why they recruited and landed Watkins in the first place. The Eagles know their football too, and you know the saying. If you can play, teams will find you, and with the 200th-overall selection in Round six of the most recent NFL Draft, Philly found a six-foot, 193-pound wide receiver. Sure, it’s too early to tell, but don’t be surprised if we’re looking back and remembering this as a jackpot find in the sixth round. Here’s some of what was said when Watkins landed in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’. This clip comes courtesy of the Philadelphia Eagles official YouTube channel.

Okay, Philadelphia Eagles fans. Let’s have some fun.

Oh, you want a few highlights? Don’t worry, Stadium has you covered. Thank them and their YouTube channel for this one.

Can you imagine if that translates to the next level? Watkins has been nicked up during camp. He’s flashed when given an opportunity, and yes, he’s also spent a considerable amount of time on the sideline thanks to a few nicks and bruises.

Still, we know that game speed is an entirely different animal than what happens at practice. Nothing can be stated about what Watkins will be until we see him on the field versus real competition, but we can say this. Everyone was told that this most recent NFL Draft was a deep one for wide receivers, and it appears that was an accurate statement. Quez Watkins was Philly’s best bang for their buck in Round 6. They couldn’t have gotten a better prospect at 200.  Don’t be surprised if, one day, we look back and the 2020 draft class is one that we think of fondly.
