Is the Philadelphia Eagles young safety up to the challenge in Week 1?

If you’ve watched any ACC or Clemson Tigers football over the course of the past few seasons, you know exactly who K’Von Wallace is. You might also have a few questions about how he managed to slip to Round 4 when the ‘Birds’ snatched him up with the 127th-overall selection.

Here’s all that we can tell you. He’s a little short (five-foot-eleven) and some NFL scouts had questions about his speed. He has a nice-sized frame though. He’s 205 pounds, and Dabo Swinney and company had no issues with using him in multiple areas of the Tigers’ defensive scheme.

He lined up at safety. He played at the line of scrimmage. He even played a role similar to what we’ve seen Will Parks do at Eagles camp, line up as the slot cornerback in Clemson’s version of what would be big nickel sets.

Parks has a hamstring injury now and figures to be out multiple weeks, so he could miss a few games. Jalen Mills and Rodney McLeod will start come Game 1, but Wallace now figures to play an even bigger role than we expected of him a few weeks ago. Keep an eye on him come Week 1.
