Wait! What are the Philadelphia Eagles doing at running back?

It never fails. Every single season that we’re all blessed to see, we can expect for our Philadelphia Eagles to do something unconventional. A season ago, they released their 53-man roster and only two tight ends were on it. This after we thought their initial roster would house three. In 2017 and in 2018, the made two undrafted running backs key contributors, Corey Clement and Josh Adams respectively. In 2016, they traded the projected starting quarterback with eight days to go before the start of the regular season.

Here we are, and in 2020, they’re at it again. On September’s third day, two days before they were supposed to introduce their final 53-man roster, the Eagles announced that they were waiving 12 prospects. The list looked as follows.

Does anyone realize anything? Did you notice that three running backs are gone? They do realize Miles Sanders is hurt right? Or is he?

If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, expect the unexpected.

There are a few routes that we can take with our thinking here. One, Elijah Holyfield, Adrian Killins, and Michael Warren might be brought back. With every team being allowed 16 men on the practice squad. We could see at least two, if not all of them there.

Here’s the other thing. This could mean that Miles Sanders is ready for game one, but even if that’s the case, there are only three running backs on the current roster. Might that mean, if they want to house four, that the announcement of one more major move might be on the way?

Don’t be surprised if they make one or if they’re in the process of making one. This is Philly we’re talking about. This is general manager and vice president Howie Roseman we’re discussing. This fits the mold. The ‘Birds’ might drop a bomb on us pretty soon here.
