3 Things Philadelphia Eagles fans must know about Jason Huntley
You have to check out this highlight reel if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
After an action-packed Saturday in the NFL, Sunday was a little tamer for the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans, outside of trying to piece together a practice squad of course. Truthfully, some of the biggest news was less about who the ‘Birds’ signed and more about who they didn’t. Former ‘Birds’ Shareef Miller and Rasul Douglas wound up in Charlotte while Noah Togiai wound up in Indianapolis with the Colts.
Philly did make one headline-grabbing signing as they acquired a running back, Jason Huntley. Though he hasn’t registered a single carry as a professional, he is an intriguing prospect for both his speed and his ability on special teams. Keep an eye on him.
Here are three fun facts if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with Huntley or Detroit Lions football, here’s the skinny.
1. The Detroit Lions drafted Huntley in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft but released him after camp. That’s never a good sign, but this is a move that could work for Philly if he’s used appropriately.
2. Like Marquise Goodwin, he’s a former track star. Check him out as he and several other running back prospects running the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis during the most recent NFL Scouting Combine. This clip comes courtesy of the NFL’s official YouTube channel.
Did you see this guy? He was totally in his element here. Philly’s desire to get younger and faster continues.
3. Don’t worry if you’re a ‘Birds’ fan. The speed translates. Often, these speedsters tend to lose a little steam when you put a helmet and some pads on them. That isn’t the case with Huntley. Here are a few in-game highlights. Thank the NCAA and JustBombsProductions for this one.
If you’re an Eagles fan, you have to hope the team’s gotten a diamond in the rough here. Now, they just have to figure out what they’re going to do on the other side of the ball after releasing Cre’Von LeBlanc.
That one could be a reactionary move to get the team back to 53 bodies. There’s just one issue. Three of the men that we thought would be among Philly’s top six cornerbacks are now gone.
