Philadelphia Eagles: Zach Ertz makes huge statement on his contract talks
Here’s more bad news if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Ertz isn’t happy.
Well, as if the Philadelphia Eagles didn’t have enough issues heading into Week 1’s game, here’s another. Zach Ertz, the best tight end in the history of the Eagles franchise and a man who’s quietly made an argument for why he should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, isn’t happy.
Now, before you say anything, think of a few things. Zach Ertz has never complained publicly about anything. He’s been a good soldier. He’s careful about what he says when speaking to the media. He was without question the Eagles runner-up for the MVP of Super Bowl 52.
Sure, that was February of 2018, and a lot has happened since then, but isn’t that the argument that some of you always use to defend Nelson Agholor and Howie Roseman? One was good for one year. The other, regardless of how much he’s screwed up, had one season, where everything came together and everything he did for one year worked (if you leave out the fact that 2017’s draft class was a failure of course).
Ertz has proven his mettle, for years, so if the man who rarely complains seems to have an issue, isn’t it worth hearing? Here are two initial thoughts following his recent sitdown with the Philly media.
