Are there any positives from the Philadelphia Eagles’ week one disaster?

To say the Philadelphia Eagles fell short in week one of the 2020-2021 NFL Season is a massive understatement. After a dominant first quarter and first half overall, everything came crashing down in the final two quarters.

From the coaching to the offensive line to the running game to the sub-par play of Carson Wentz, it was horrifying to watch. There’s a long season ahead, but Philadelphia cannot afford to lose games like this with how difficult the rest of the schedule is.

All of a sudden, there’s a familiar feeling for Eagles fans. It feels a lot like the loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 3 of 2019 and that loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 4 of the 2018 season. Philly fans are tired of seeing blown leads. They’re tired of the injuries. They’re tired of complaining about the medical staff.

This upcoming week is going to be a long one in the city of Philadelphia and for the fans of this team that live in other areas. The expectation was a convincing win to get the season off to a good start, but now there are more questions than answers.

Washington was the better team this past Sunday. They capitalized on mistakes and built momentum, especially in the fourth quarter. Despite that, there are a few positives to take away from this loss. There’s no guarantee that everything will get fixed immediately, but Philly can be encouraged by the performances of a few guys. Let’s take a look at five bright spots in a game where it was hard to find a few.
