The Philadelphia Eagles saw improvement from Nathan Gerry.

While Nathan Gerry was one of the Birds’ leading tacklers last year, he also missed a considerable amount of tackles. As a former safety, pass coverage comes much more naturally to him than it does for many of the other Eagles linebackers. It’s also easy to forget that, last year, he was playing through the same core injury that sidelined DeSean Jackson for most of the season.

That’s not an excuse by any means, but maybe he’s going to be better at wrapping guys up in the open field now that he is one-hundred percent.

In the first game of his fourth season, he looked much better. He was diagnosing offensive plays and flying around the field making key tackles. He finished the day with ten of them, five of which were solo tackles and two of which were tackles for loss. There’s no guarantee that this will continue all year long but with such a young linebacker group it was nice to see him step up and take charge.
