. Lane Johnson, Right Tackle. 8. player. 54. .

The Philadelphia Eagles’ O-line can’t afford to allow too many more hits on Wentz.

What is the worst stat from that Eagles Week 1 loss against Washington? If you said allowing eight sacks, give yourselves a prize. The Eagles’ offensive line has to give quarterback Carson Wentz enough time to throw the ball, but equally important, they must protect him better if they expect him to be on the field for the entire season.

We received good news when we learned that right tackle Lane Johnson is on his way to playing against the Rams after being slowed down by an ankle injury. He says that he isn’t 100 percent healthy, but he will play on Sunday. That’s encouraging news as his presence will give the ‘Birds’ hog mollies a boost.

54. . . . Nate Herbig, right guard. 7. player

Eagles right guard Nate Herbig played surprisingly well in his first NFL game. Originally an undrafted free agent in 2019, no one would have guessed three months ago that he’d be the starter at right guard now, but that’s exactly what has happened.

Herbig’s Week 1 performance wasn’t among the best ever at the position, but he held his ground pretty well considering that the bar wasn’t set very high. Nobody would have blamed him if he had faltered, but he allowed just one sack and two pressures on a day when Philly’s offensive line was a liability. The team’s brass is surely pleased with his play and is hoping his performance can carry over into Sunday’s contest.
