2 More reasons Philadelphia Eagles can’t trade Zach Ertz
It’s hard to imagine Zach Ertz not being a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Believe it or not, it wouldn’t be hard to write an argument for why the Philadelphia Eagles could be interested in moving Zach Ertz. We’ve all heard those arguments for what? Five or six months now?
What’s crazy is this. There are times when it feels like the most loyal fan base in all of sports isn’t loyal at all, and that’s true from the top of this franchise all the way down to its fans. Philly held on to Mack Hollins and tried to convince us that he could play.
They let Nelson Agholor play out his contract and made no real attempts to move him, a man who sandwiched a decent season between two long stretches where this team got nothing out of him. They’ve even tried to convince us that we should be happy Alshon Jeffery is still here.
This past offseason, Philly let Malcolm Jenkins go after he restructured his deal on more than one occasion to be a team player. Ertz has been a good soldier too. What has he gotten for that? He’s had his loyalty questioned, his contract negotiations halted, and he’s been criticized by the fans and the subject of trade talks. Meanwhile, Jason Peters has shown some of the most selfish behavior we’ve seen over the past few seasons, and he got a raise and is now a team captain.
Who would have thought that some of the Philadelphia Eagles fan base would have turned on Zach Ertz? Ladies and gentlemen, the system is broken. Here are two of about 20 reasons why trading Zach Ertz is an all-time bad idea.
