The Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive line suffers another blow.

You’re not even surprised, are you? Seriously, why would you be? Okay, without cheating, try something. Without looking it up, when was the last time you watched a Philadelphia Eagles game and someone didn’t leave the field with an injury? You don’t know, do you? Well, here we go again.

It wasn’t the long ago when Philly’s offensive line was dubbed the best in football. As a matter of fact, they were given that honor on the eve of Super Bowl 52, as they were named the Built Ford Tough Offensive Line of the Year.

Fast forward to the most recent offseason, and despite the fact that future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Jason Peters was allowed to walk, much was expected of this Eagles offensive line. Andre Dillard, Isaac Seumalo, Jason Kelce, Brandon Brooks, and Lane Johnson were supposed to be the starters. That’s impressive, but um, well you know.

Add Isaac Seumalo’s name to the list of injured Philadelphia Eagles.

On Sunday, in Week 3, Philly’s offensive line won’t look anything like we thought it would look like a few months ago. They had a nice starting five. They had guys like Matt Pryor, Sua Opeta, and Nate Herbig waiting in the wings. They had just drafted both of Auburn’s starting tackles, Prince Tega Wanogho and Jack Driscoll, in the most recent selection meeting.

Then, Brandon Brooks got hurt, and they brought Jason Peters back. Then, they lost Andre Dillard, and we had that whole ‘whether or not Jason Peters was going to play left tackle’ thing. Pryor has struggled. There have been rumors that Brooks would be back in 2020. Now, Driscoll’s hurt.

Oh, and now, there’s this. After watching Isaac Seumalo go down with an injury, we feared the worst when he didn’t return, and now, we have a prognosis. In a recent sit-down with the Philly media, head coach Doug Pederson said what we were all thinking. Seumalo will miss significant time with an injury. It sounds like the short-term injured reserve is his landing spot. Matt Pryor figures to take over at left guard.
