Cheer up Philadelphia Eagles fans. Things could be worse.

Before we go any further, let’s all understand something. If you’re a Dallas Cowboys fan, no one really cares about how you feel about this. Carson Wentz has won with nothing around him. Dak Prescott has always been surrounded by weapons and, in some cases, a slightly more talented team than Wentz has had. Still, for whatever reason, he can’t seem to get out of his own way or get the job done.

In Week 2 of 2020’s season, Dallas had to rally to beat the Atlanta Falcons with a last-second field goal. They should have never been in that position in the first place. Wait. Hold on for a second. Dallas didn’t beat the Falcons. Atlanta lost the game. There’s a difference. Let that sink in for a little while if you didn’t get it immediately.

There are quite a few other starting quarterbacks that could have earned a spot on this list. Sam Darnold comes to mind. As does Derek Carr, Drew Lock, Gardner Minshew, and Philip Rivers. None of those guys are better than Carson Wentz.

Dak Prescott can play. He has talent. There, we said it, but one thing that stands out now is the fact that everything around him has to be perfect if he’s going to do so. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just how things are. The other thing is this. He’s had the offensive line. He has Ezekiel Elliott. He has Amari Cooper, and CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup. He’s had Jason Witten. This guy can’t do better than what he’s done with all of that talent around him?

When Mike McCarthy was hired in Dallas, you would think that one of the first things that he would have done would have been to call his starting quarterback. Nope. McCarthy doesn’t seem to be interested. Jerry Jones won’t pay him, and the only reason that we acknowledge Dak Prescott is he’s the signal-caller for the so-called ‘America’s Team’. If he played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, we’d be treating him like we treat Jacoby Brissett. Yeah, he can win a few games, but he isn’t ‘special’. Hey Dallas, don’t you ever say that this guy is better than Wentz again.
