It looks like PFF is banging on the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback now too.

Well, if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan and you subscribe to Pro Football Focus, here’s one of those stories that might catch your attention. It’s about Philly’s star quarterback Carson Wentz.

Here’s a spoiler alert to go along with that news. If you do, indeed, love the ‘Birds’, you aren’t going to like much about what they had to say. One of their most trusted voices, Michael Renner, dove headfirst into what’s troubling Wentz in 2020.

You need one of PFF’s premium packages to read this one, but here’s what you can see for free. Buckle up guys and gals.

"Carson Wentz’s 40.7 percent on-target pass rate is currently the lowest of any starter in the NFL, and he leads the NFL with eight turnover-worthy plays (almost one-third of the way to his 25 from a year ago) after two games. That not only means that he has been wildly inaccurate, but it also means that he’s been callous in his decision-making. Unsurprisingly, he’s the lowest-graded quarterback in the NFL so far this season."

Whether he’s passed the eyeball test or he’s failed it, we could always talk about how great Carson Wentz’s statistics have been. Now, we can’t even say that. He’s completed just under 59 percent of his passes. That’s a career-low. He’s thrown two touchdowns and run for another, but he’s also thrown four picks and lost a fumble. He also hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass since the first half of Week 1’s game versus the Washington Football Team.

Wentz hasn’t just regressed. He’s fallen off of a cliff. His 64 percent quarterback rating is also the worst of his career so far. The Cincinnati Bengals’ secondary provides an opportunity for a bounceback performance, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Donovan McNabb got off to an even worse start back in 2003. Philly dropped two straight to open that season, and the offense scored ten points during that span while ‘5’ didn’t throw any touchdowns but threw three picks. He went on to throw four touchdowns versus seven interceptions in his first eight weeks and 16 total touchdowns on the season. Philly won a division title though.

There is hope, and the fact that the Eagles play in the NFC East should give you some. Don’t be surprised if the NFC East’s champion has a losing record, but before we even get that far down the road, let’s try and keep things in perspective. There’s a lot of football left to play.
