Philadelphia Eagles: 2 Thoughts following news of Jalen Reagor’s injury
Well, it looks like Philadelphia Eagles rookie Jalen Reagor will miss time.
Well, here’s some bad news if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. We haven’t even eclipsed the first month of the regular season, and Jalen Reagor is, again, dealing with an injury. Prior to Week 1, he sustained a minor injury at Philly’s dress rehearsal-style practice at Lincoln Financial Field. He was trying to make a tackle following a Carson Wentz interception.
Fast forward to Philly’s practice leading up to their game versus the Cincinnati Bengals on a ‘WentzDay’, and ’18’ was in sweatpants. We later learned that he’ll miss some time. Let’s not waste a ton of time. Here are two thoughts following the news.
1. The first thing that most Philadelphia Eagles fans want to know is what happened?
According to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro, Reagor has a torn UCL tendon in his thumb and that he ‘is expected to go on (injured reserve) and have surgery to repair the tear’. This according to league sources that shared the info with NBC Sports Philadelphia. Another of NBC Sports Philadelphia’s own, John Clark, states the following via his Twitter account.
"Sources say hope is Jalen Reagor can be back after the bye week (November 15th). That would mean he could miss seven weeks with torn UCL in his thumb. Tough injury for a WR with (the) impact of catching the ball on his thumb."
Zangaro believes the injury is attributable to a play on Sunday.
2. Okay, so if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, now what?
Alshon Jeffery was seen carrying a helmet at Eagles practice, but it’s doubtful that he’ll be ready any time before Sunday. Currently, on the roster, they have J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, John Hightower, DeSean Jackson, and Greg Ward as their available wide receivers. Quez Watkins is on the IR. Deontay Burnett and Travis Fulgham are on the practice squad. If Philly does, indeed, send Reagor to the IR, one of them can be promoted.
Here’s Philly’s entire injury report from Wednesday.
There’s already an available roster spot following the news on Tuesday that Isaac Seumalo would be placed on the IR as well. It’s the same old story in Philadelphia: injuries on top of injuries on top of injuries.
You’d hope that this team would have as many hands on deck as possible for Week 3 following consecutive losses in Week 1 and Week 2. It doesn’t appear that will be the case, but hopefully ’18’ will be back on the field sooner rather than later.
