Philadelphia Eagles roundup: NFC East Week 3 power rankings
It may be a while before the Philadelphia Eagles see the No. 2 spot again.
A good defense is only going to take you so far and that remains true for the Washington Football Team. As good as their defensive line is at generating pressure, they can’t make up for the lack of scoring on the offensive side of the ball. Against the Eagles in Week 1, it didn’t matter much as they started their scoring drives deep in ‘Birds’ territory.

That wasn’t going to cut it against the Arizona Cardinals and rising second-year quarterback Kyle Murray though. For most of the game, Washington’s offense was dormant, and they only came to life in the third quarter, when the game was pretty much out of reach.
Wide receiver Terry McLaurin hauled in seven catches for 135 yards and one touchdown. Rookie running back Antonio Gibson had a solid game himself and tallied 13 carries for 55 yards and a score. Washington will surely keep featuring them on offense. The defense, again, did its part and registered three sacks and an interception.
Rookie defensive end Chase Young already has 2.5 quarterback takedowns on the year, and quarterback Dwayne Haskins posted some decent numbers despite being sacked four times. There may be some wins on the horizon for this Washington Football Team, but the ‘Cards’ were too much for them to withstand. Don’t be surprised if that changes in the not-too-distant future, the pieces are there for them to eventually field a competitive team.
