. . . Malik Jackson, defensive tackle. 6. player. 54

The results aren’t proportional to what the Philadelphia Eagles are paying for.

By now, you might’ve seen a trend. The Eagles defense hasn’t been very good these past two weeks, and as mentioned, it is isn’t just one player here and there. Rather, it’s been the unit as a whole that has failed to do its job collectively. What makes this situation more worrisome is that they have invested plenty of resources to their defensive line and those guys haven’t been great these past two games.

Nobody can control injuries, nor should we vilify defensive tackle Malik Jackson as he works to try and battle back from a Lisfrac injury that ended his 2019 season. He’s healthy now, but he’s been a mixed bag on the field. The team’s brass will surely want to see more from Jackson in Week 3.

Nickell Robey-Colleman, cornerback. 5. player. 54. . .

The Eagles 2020 free-agency acquisitions also included a slot cornerback that they gave a one-year, $1.35 million contract to. Though not as pricey as, say, Javon Hargrave or cornerback Darius Slay, Nickell Robey-Coleman was regarded as one of the steals of free agency. Here’s more bad news if you’re an Eagles fan. His play has been as good as expected.

Opposing quarterbacks have feasted on Robey-Coleman these past two games and have completed all nine passes they threw in his direction. He also gave up a touchdown against the Rams. Things won’t get any easier against the Bengals and their young wide receivers in Week 3.
