4 NFL free agents Philadelphia Eagles should still consider
Here’s an idea the Philadelphia Eagles need to move on.
Somewhere in the Eagles fan base, whether that’s in the Delaware Valley or anywhere else in the country, some of you let out a sigh of relief when you saw Cordy Glenn‘s name. He might be the one saving grace of a list that probably hasn’t made too many of you feel better. It probably should also be mentioned that there’s a large contingent that can’t understand why this guy isn’t already in an Eagles jersey.
Oh, that’s right. It’s because Philly caved to Jason Peters like they always do. It hasn’t taken much to understand that Peters is way past his prime, and there’s nothing that says he has one last run in him. The last ride was over last season, and it was ugly.
Philly brought Glenn in during training camp, and it appeared that they were close to making him an offer. They never did, and Jason Peters was, indeed, named the team’s starting left tackle prior to Week 1. That was the wrong decision. It’s obvious, and the fact of the matter is this.
The best move was always going to be making Glenn the starting left tackle and keeping Peters at right guard. Some of you have known that for a while. The move can still be made, but it’s doubtful that it will happen. You know how stubborn Philly is and how they hate admitting that they’re wrong.
If they find it in themselves to make this move happen though it could solidify the offensive line. Look at the bright side. They’d still have Peters as insurance for their backup left tackle position if anything was to happen injury-wise unless of course, ‘The Bodyguard’ thinks that another position switch means that he needs another pay raise.
