Free agency isn’t still an option for the Philadelphia Eagles, or is it?

Well, it was hard to resist. It’s a sensitive subject in every fan base, but it’s difficult not to mull this one over if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. The team is losing, or in last week’s case, tying, so it’s tough, despite Philly’s financial restraints, not to think of every possible way to make this team better. There are still some available fish in free agency’s pool? Could they be options?

Be forewarned. Before you even look for yourselves, there aren’t a ton of options out there that make sense. You have no idea, with so many team needs, how hard it was not to give guys like Earl Thomas and Nigel Bradham,  some serious consideration. That’s how bad things have been for the Eagles in the secondary and at linebacker, especially if the ‘Birds’ aren’t going to give T.J. Edwards, Davion Taylor, and Shaun Bradley a shot to play.

Bradham is clearly a step slower than he once was, and he made some remarks that ‘Birds’ fans and the Philly media took personally, as they should. Still, even with his physical limitations and the knowledge that two teams in the past six months have told him that he isn’t good enough to play anymore, he’s still better than most of what Philly has and just about every other unemployed linebacker that’s available. That’s a pretty doggone scary thought. When you hear the term slim pickings, think of the available free agents that are current options.

As far as Earl Thomas goes, we all know that there’s the possibility of him chasing an opposing coach up the tunnel to try and land his next job if he’s frustrated. He could also go ‘Hulk Smash’ on a teammate in times of crisis. Bygones need to be bygones here though. This is about winning, and Philly hasn’t done that yet in 2020. Still, there’s another side to all of this.

Thomas and Nigel Bradham are two of the best at their respective positions, but either one of their additions might both be too big of a gamble. Plus, the word is Earl Thomas has been passed over by the Houston Texans. With that being said, here are four free agents the ‘Birds’ should give some serious consideration to.
