Just in case you missed the news, the Philadelphia Eagles are in first place.

Of the course, even in victory, the Philadelphia Eagles had to make it hard on themselves. There was no way that they were going to just coast to victory against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. After an Alex Singleton pick-six with 5:42 to play in the game, the ‘Birds’ held an 11-point lead.

Insert CJ Beathard for the Niners, and cue the drama.

Beathard looked flawless in a fast-paced offense putting up 138 passing yards in just a little over five minutes of game time, but it was too little too late as Jim Schwartz’s ‘bend but don’t break’ style of defense held strong to close things out and give the Eagles their first victory of the season. As a result, this Eagles season isn’t dead yet.

After a stomach-turning tie in Week 3 and a nail-biting victory on Sunday Night Football in Week 4, the Eagles hold sole possession of first place in the NFC East. The win was anything but pretty, but it showed that they’ve made some progress.

Carson Wentz showed his mental and physical toughness. Those ‘no-name’ wide receivers came to play, and the defensive line dominated the trenches. It’s Monday, so it’s only right, that there would be some overreaction (or some answers to the overreaction that we’ve already heard). Here are three common statements that are being tossed around a lot.
