Philadelphia Eagles versus New York Giants: 5 questions ahead of Week 7
4. Will the Philadelphia Eagles still be able to win with all of those injuries?
As you know, the Philadelphia Eagles will be facing their division rivals without several key players on offense. Injuries continue to plague this roster. Maybe it’s the water? Still, even though Philly is missing quite a few of their stars, they still have some offensive firepower.
The ‘Birds’ have changed their offensive scheme from week to week. We have now seen them use a pistol formation, ’11 personnel’ (three wide recivers, a tight end, and a tailback), and ’12 personnel’ (two wide receivers, two tight ends and a tailback), so expect different looks on Thursday.
Having Jalen Hurts in an offense’s back pocket gives the Eagles a huge boost and opens up their limited playbook that much more. With key stars like Miles Sanders, Zach Ertz, and Dallas Goedert all out for this game, the Eagles will have to execute the game plan and limit the mistakes (like drops in the end zone).
Carson Wentz having a trustworthy receiver like Travis Fulgham also opens up the playbook. As good as Bradberry is, he won’t be able to guard Fulgham consistently. In only three games, Fulgham has already racked up 284 yards on the season and is averaging 15.8 yards per reception. He’s the type of playmaker at the wide receiver position that Eagles fans haven’t seen for a long time. He’s fun to watch.
This game will come down to whether or not the Eagles offensive line can hold up against the Giants’ front four. We saw abysmal play out of the offensive line last week (particularly on the right side), but with Carson Wentz at the helm, Philly should be able to secure this victory. The focus will be back on Philly head coach Doug Pederson and his ability to continue to keep this team focused and in this fight. Advantage: Eagles
