If you’re a fan of these types of things, according the ESPN’s Football Power Index, FPI, following the Thursday night victory, the Philadelphia Eagles’ chances of winning the NFC East has increased to around 61 percent.

The Eagles had momentum, then they lost every ounce. The Giants had momentum, then they gifted the win away to the Eagles.

Nobody can question the fight in Philadelphia. No matter the circumstances, this team is going to battle. Whether it’s a heavyweight battle against the league’s best defenses or in the words of Troy Aikman “a pillow fight” this Eagles team will not waver.

The Eagles have the best quarterback in the NFC East. The Eagles very well, top to bottom, might have the best defense in the NFC East. The Eagles have the most experienced coaching staff in the NFC East. And certainly, right now, the Eagles have shown the most fight of all NFC East teams.

There is reason to be optimistic, but there is also a cause of concern. The Eagles beat the Giants, but man was it ugly. Nonetheless, sitting in the driver’s seat feels good, even if it’s only for a couple of days. The Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8 in what is, unfortunately for the rest of the country, another primetime NFC East game.
