The Philadelphia Eagles beat one rival and must prepare for another.

It may not have been pretty. Heck, it was downright ugly at times, but the Philadelphia Eagles were able to defeat the New York Giants by a score of 22-21. Looking at the score won’t tell you that Philly owned time of possession and put up more total offensive yards in this Week 7 matchup.

After a solid first scoring drive, the ‘Iggles’ offense, to put it mildly, struggled. Playcalling was stale, and execution was even staler, which allowed the Giants to creep back into the game after holding the lead into half time. Philly’s defense had solid plays, coming away with some big takeaways (especially towards the end), but they once again struggled in multiple areas.

The offense was on the same side of the coin as the defense. Good plays were followed by bad ones which led this to be an emotional rollercoaster of a game for fans and members of the media. Though Philly got some major breaks (like the Evan Engram drop late), there were still too many times where we saw this team make simple mistakes that ended up being costly.

With under two minutes remaining, the Eagles were down by five points, Quarterback Carson Wentz, the comeback kid, led them down the field to the red zone and threw a dime to his running back, Boston Scott. The Giants took the field, with no time outs remaining, and while attempting to get into field goal range, Eagles defensive end, Brandon Graham came up big (again) with a strip-sack on quarterback Daniel Jones to secure the victory.

As stated earlier, it wasn’t a pretty game, but a win is a win. The Eagles are first in the NFC East. This game had its share of great moments, but there were also some ugly ones. Here are five studs and duds as Philly turns the page on Week 7 and prepares for Cowboys week.
